And indeed, [it was for this reason that] Noah cried unto Us - and how excellent was Our response: 75 We saved him and his people from the great distress, 76 And We made his offspring the survivors. 77 and We left him thus to be remembered among later generations: 78 Peace be unto Noah among the peoples! 79 Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 80 for he was truly one of our believing servants: 81 We then drowned the others. 82 ۞ Of his party was Abraham. 83 when he came unto his Lord with a pure heart, 84 when he said to his father and his folk, 'What do you serve? 85 Do you want [to bow down before] a lie - [before] deities other than God? 86 What do you imagine the Lord of the worlds to be?" 87 Then he glanced a glance on the stars. 88 and said: “I am sick.” 89 So they went away from him, turning back. 90 and he turned to their idols and asked them, "Do you eat? 91 What aileth ye that ye speak not? 92 Then he turned upon them, striking (them) with (his) right hand. 93 Then the people came toward him, hastening. 94 He said: "Worship ye that which ye have (yourselves) carved? 95 and God created you and what you make?' 96 They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire." 97 So they tried to execute their evil scheme upon him – We therefore degraded them. (Allah saved him, by commanding the fire to turn cool). 98 Abraham said: “I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous." 100 And We gave him the glad tidings of a very gentle son (Ishmael). 101 And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Insha' Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)." 102 Then when the twain had submitted themselves and he had prostrated him upon his temple. 103 We cried out: “O Abraham, 104 you have fulfilled what you were commanded to do in your dream." Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 105 Indeed, this was the clear trial. 106 So We ransomed him for a great sacrifice, 107 And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times. 108 Salamun (peace) be upon Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 109 Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. 110 Surely he was one of Our believing servants. 111 We gave Abraham the good news of Isaac, a prophet and a righteous man, 112 and blessed him and Isaac too: some of their offspring were good, but some clearly sinned against their souls. 113
