The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 by the Garden of [Eternal] Repose, 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That indeed were an unfair division! 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25
