Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
