AND WHEN the messengers [of God] came to the house of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
