The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You will become three categories: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
