The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
