The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 "He has aided you with cattle and children. 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 This has been happening all along. 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
