The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 Unto him therefore We shall indeed make easy the path to ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
