The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 arise, and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And your garments do purify, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then he looked, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
