Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In the high empyrean, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
