Who does greater wrong than he who invents a lie against God and denies His signs? Assuredly, the wrongdoers will not succeed. 21 On the Day when We gather them all together We shall say to the idolaters: 'Where are your partners now, those whom you claimed' 22 Then they had no fabrication except that they said, “By Allah, our Lord, we were never polytheists!” 23 See how they will lie about themselves. And lost from them will be what they used to invent. 24 And of them is he who hearkens to you, and We have cast veils over their hearts lest they understand it and a heaviness into their ears; and even if they see every sign they will not believe in it; so much so that when they come to you they only dispute with you; those who disbelieve say: This is naught but the stories of the ancients. 25 And they bar others therefrom and go far away from it: but they destroy none but themselves, and perceive it not. 26 If thou couldst but see when they are confronted with the Fire! They will say: "Would that we were but sent back! Then would we not reject the signs of our Lord, but would be amongst those who believe!" 27 In fact it has become clear to them what they used to hide before; and were they to be sent back, they would commit the same which they were forbidden to, and undoubtedly they are liars. 28 They say: 'There is only but our present life; we shall not be resurrected' 29 If you could but see when they will be held (brought and made to stand) in front of their Lord! He will say: "Is not this (Resurrection and the taking of the accounts) the truth?" They will say: "Yes, by our Lord!" He will then say: "So taste you the torment because you used not to believe." 30
