Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 That We made it a distinctly lucid Qur'an that you may understand. 3 And surely it is in the original of the Book with Us, truly elevated, full of wisdom. 4 Can We ignore sending you the Quran just because you are a transgressing people? 5 How many Messengers did We send to the ancient people? 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier in courage than they. And the example of the ancients has passed away. 8 Yet thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing has created them." 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth - 11 He who created pairs of everything, and fashioned for you boats and beasts on which you ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 indeed, to our Lord we are turning' 14 Yet they assign to Him some of His own (created) worshipers! Clearly, the human is unthankful. 15
