And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 and from the Pharaoh. He was the chief of the transgressors. 31 And We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds. 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Yet those who deny the truth say, 34 “There is nothing except our dying just once, and we will not be raised.” 35 “Therefore bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful!” 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We created them not save with a purpose but most of them know not. 39 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 except for those to whom God grants mercy. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 42
