Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 Noah said: “My people, I have certainly been sent as a clear warner to you, 2 Worship Allah, fear Him, and obey me. 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 [And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 And I have said: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving. 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What is the matter with you that you do not want the Greatness of Allah, 13 seeing He created you by stages? 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 And hath placed the moon therein for a light, and hath made the sun a lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet, 19 That you may go along therein in wide paths. 20
