The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
