The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
