He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attended to him, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
