The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 TO THE TRUTH gave the lie [the tribe of] Ad: and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
