The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
