The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is a written book, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
