Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
