A multitude of those of old 39 and also a large throng from those of later times. 40 As for the Companions of the Left 41 They will be in the midst of scorching wind and boiling water, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty. 45 And they persisted in the great violation. 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then you, the erring ones and those that gave the lie to the Truth, 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? 57 Just consider (the semen) that you emit, 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We! it is We Who have decreed death unto you all. And We are not to be outrun. 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 Behold! the water which ye drink: 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We so pleased, We certainly could make it salty. Why, then, are you not grateful? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. 74
