The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night as it envelops; 1 and the day in splendour 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
