And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
