Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 From the guilty. 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 running away from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
