Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true). 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
