The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
