The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or orders piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
