The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
