The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it covers 1 And the day resplendent 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
