A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 If you follow a mortal like yourselves you will certainly be lost. 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! 37 “He is just a man who has fabricated a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe him.” 38 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk! 41 Then after them We raised other generations. 42 Every nation has an appointed life span. 43 We sent Our messengers one after the other but whenever a Messenger would come to a nation, its people would call him a liar and We would destroy one nation after the other, thus, only their stories were left behind them. God keeps the unbelievers far away from His Mercy. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 and they said, 'What, shall we believe two mortals like ourselves, whose people are our servants?' 47 They called them liars and consequently were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them a refuge on a hillside where there was a hollow and a spring. 50
