The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 The stars and the trees prostrate. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 so that you would maintain justice. 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 And grain covered with husk, and fragrant flowers. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 Lord of the Two Easts, Lord of the Two Wests, 17 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
