The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
