A crowd of earlier generations 39 and a throng of the later folk. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 In scorching wind and boiling hot water. 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 shall eat the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And filling with it your bellies 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 Drinking the way thirsty camels drink. 55 This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Have you thought about what crops you plant? 63 is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower? 64 If We so wished, We could have reduced your harvest to rubble, and you would have been left wonder-struck to exclaim: 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Have you ever considered the water which you drink? 68 Send it down ye from the raincloud, or are We the Sender down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Tell Me! The fire which you kindle, 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We have made it a reminder and an advantage for the wayfarers of the desert. 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74
