The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
