[AND the tribe of] Ad gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said: it is equal unto us whether thou admonishest or art not of the admonishers. 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
