The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 and the Book inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 And the House frequented, 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
