The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
