The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars darken, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 The rising dawn, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
