They will ask you about Dhu'l-Qarnayn. Say, "I will give you an account of him." 83 We had given him great power in the land and all kinds of resources. 84 So he followed a way. 85 To the extent that when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and found a nation there; We said, “O Zul-Qarnain either punish them or choose kindness for them.” 86 He said: As to him who is unjust, we will chastise him, then shall he be returned to his Lord, and He will chastise him with an exemplary chastisement: 87 But as for him who believeth and doeth right, good will be his reward, and We shall speak unto him a mild command. 88 He then followed (another) road 89 Till he reached the point of the rising sun, and saw it rise over a people for whom We had provided no shelter against it. 90 Thus was the state of those people, and We encompassed in knowledge all concerning Dhu al- Qarnayn. 91 Thereafter he followed a way. 92 after this to the middle of two mountains where he found a people who could hardly understand a single word. 93 They said, “O Zul-Qarnain indeed Yajuj and Majuj* are spreading chaos in the land so shall we assign for you a consideration upon the condition that you set up a wall between us and them?” (* Gog and Magog.) 94 He replied: 'That which my Lord has given me is better, therefore help me with all your power, and I will build a barrier between you and between them. 95 Bring me sheets of iron" - until, when he had leveled [them] between the two mountain walls, he said, "Blow [with bellows]," until when he had made it [like] fire, he said, "Bring me, that I may pour over it molten copper." 96 And thus [the rampart was built, and] their enemies were unable to scale it, and neither were they able to pierce it. 97 He said: this is a mercy from my Lord; then when the promise of my Lord cometh, He shall make it powder, and the promise of my Lord is ever true. 98 ۞ On that day, We will let them surge on one another, and the Horn shall be blown, and We will gather them all together. 99 And We will present Hell that Day to the Disbelievers, on display - 100 (To) Those whose eyes had been under a covering from My Reminder (this Quran), and who could not bear to hear (it). 101
