۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Behold, you will indeed taste grievous suffering [in the life to come,] 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 They can only return to hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
