▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 As a warning unto men, 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 about the sinners. 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 running away from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
