He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
