Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
