Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
