۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 What, do we then not die 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
