The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount Sinai, 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 The roof raised high, 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
