(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 That He hath promised a Second Creation (Raising of the Dead); 47 and that it is He who gives wealth and riches, 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 And that He destroyed the former 'A-ad. 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 None but God can avert it. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 while you make merry? 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
