The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
