Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
